Production roles presentations

In this project we researched roles which are present in different types of media products and who they work with and what they ,do this can also come under the skills which are needed but also there wages and how long they work but not forgetting the educations which is needed. With doing this it helps us understand and grow are knowledge with the job roles and what job role we could pick in the future and gives us a better understanding of the roles within a production.

What we picked and why -

In are group we picked catch me if you can the reason we picked this was because its a well know film which the group had watched and understood but most important was because the scene had a bunch of different shot types and angles which are very cool and different but also the setting and the lighting set. mis en scene is different as there is lots of props and things which are going on within such as the time era props which make the scene and set look better but also the actors and the way they act but also there personality.

Pre-production paper work

Shot list

shooting script

The reason we need pre-production paper work is to ensure that a production goes smoothly and any problems that do happen don't cause problems for the production its self this is the reason we have location recces and risk assessments so that any risks that are there can be handled with and avoided but this also stops the production company from being sued or people getting harmed. They are also used to help. production go quicker so that you know where to go and what time you have got to be there but also allows directors follow the story so that it makes sense.

Behind the scenes

Planning and practicing are lines: in this part we also got stuck on where we should film so in the end we decided to build are own set. the walls were sourced from Boom-satsuma themselves  -->

In this part we had to gain more wood to help build are set for are braces and other supports.

In this part we did all the lighting for the set to make it seem more like an house but to also match the scene.

Finished set with all the props and and lighting built.- in the end we changed the set design to make the set bigger as the set was too small so we added on a wall to make it bigger. The reason we chose to build the set was because we could not find a location which matched the set for the film and we needed it to match so we built the set instead.

Evaluation -

What I think went well within are production as a whole is being able to to capture the correct shots and angles which is very accurate to the original film this was done through a lot of time and effort such as lining up the bodies of are actors with the actors in the film. This was also done by retrying shots over and over again till we got a really accurate match to the film in technique terms this was done by changing the lens on the camera to match the shot also the positioning of the camera operator and the movements which were used. Other things which was used to make the shot look like the film was the lighting as its a key element in any production this can be seen in the shot where Tom Hanks turns round and faces the camera with his gun close up, I think this is a really good example as the lighting matches the scene very well this was done by having the lighting in natural places so it matches such as outside the window where normal light comes from but also using little LED lights to gain the extra lighting on the actors faces. In this production we had dedicated roles for it but when we were in production we all became directors as we used a tv screen plugged into the camera so that everyone could see what was happening on the camera screen so this could give everyone a chance to be a director and to have an option to add in something we also had the scene played at the same time so that we could match the audio and actions to the same shots so that it was timed well and correctly.  Somethings didn't go so well within are production but over was not a massive issue such as using the shooting script and making it easier for us such as doing all type of one shot in one block such as all over the shoulder shots in one go. Another thing is maybe myself practicing my lines a little more so that we can get the scene perfect first try. Things which i would do if I was to do it again I would add in blue or green screen on the entrances of the building to make it seem more like a house and change it in editing to make it look more realistic and also try to get objects to cover over the braces. Another thing is making sure that we follow the shooting script so that we can make it easier for us and save time so that we can use it if we need to later on. This can be making sure we do one type of shot first so that the actors don't have to move around lots and theres less movement for the crew. The ways i could improve my performance within this would go through line a bit more and more rehearsal. More things which could be improved on is checking scenes side by side to make sure props don't jump from place to another so that it looks more accurate this is a skill which can be improved on by just triple checking each shot.  Overall I think that if i was to do it again I would practice more of the line and go through and rehearse it so that we can get the scenes perfect after a few tries and making sure that we follow the shooting script but also making it so that the shooting script also follows the shots which are in same position as the actor so that its quicker and more effective,  instead of moving round constantly . Ways I would improve on these skills would be making sure I am being as effective as possible with the pre-production paper so that i am able to use it to its fullest ability.
