CDM 350: Film Editing

Video essay

Introduce your film and film Synopsis -
Offline and Online edit -

In my offline Edit for my horror film is a crucial process that significantly influences the final product and effectiveness in delivering suspense, fear, and tension. This helped me and allowed me to prefect my final product such as knowing the shots that i wanted and the type of way i wanted it to look. Such as putting all my rushes in order and colour coding them to help me visualise what it could look like. In my online edit i was able to change the colouring throughout the whole film  this was done by making an adjustment layer and turning down the exposure which gave it a darker feel to it as I wanted it too look more dark like it was night which i was partly able to achieve through colour grading. Another thing i did was doing the match cut at the end of my film which i wanted to make look really good to make it this way i had to over lay my footage of the 2 clips then change the opacity of one of them to make the clip line up nicely which had a really good effect making the audience think was it just a dream or more. With the titles i wanted it too have a hint to what would kind of happen in the film with the black splatter such as this is something which happens later on in the film making it foreshadow what might happen but also make it different from other peoples with just the name of the film and thats it the way i made this was by downloading a black splatter video and adding in the titles over the top. which was simple to do but effective at the same time. The sound for my film was used from a website called pixabay which i was able to source a lot of my sound from i was able to use this to my ability by researching the websites for the best sounds but also trying to find the sounds which were best fitting for my project but also the sounds which are used the most in horror films.
