cdm-348 recreating scenes

now you see me

CKG1482-2.webp

For this unit we had to recreate a scene from a movie or tv series, our group had decided to recreate "Now you see me" and the scene we picked was the interrogation scene with Actor's Jesse Eisenberg and Mark Ruffalo. for this scene we decided it was simple and only required a limited props such as handcuffs a table and a large office-like room.

below see is the scene from the film and the recreation we had to film:

Evaluation

For our project we produced a little scene from the film Now you see Me. we created the interrogation scene with characters Daniel Atlas and Dylan Rhodes. My job was camera man but there was a problem we had two actors 1 camera, which meant for each shot we had to swap who gets to take the shots. on the day we had a great advantage which was space, we had enough space to move the props closer a better wide angle shot where Daniel throws the cuffs onto Dylans wrists. this shot with Daniel's magic trick was the hardest shot to film because we had to get the cuffs on Dylans wrists without audience knowing that Daniel but we had an idea of tackling it by seeing I. the shot that we only had to see Dylans forearms so that out made it easier to put it on his wrists. and the final shot we had which was hard was security camera which was like a Birds Eye view. I think we had a lot of fun with this production and enjoyed recreation this scene I think there were good things that went well like synchronising the scenes with our footage and the scenes some of the footage was a little out of place which I know in the future I can improve on and still wish to get better and making more of these unique projects.  The cinematophgraphers for now you see me,  wanted to create many hand held shots to make the scene look more livley and thrilling to create a dramatic sequence.

Overall Im happy with my project and enjoyed how it had come out. there were some advantages we had and disadvantages that I could've of worked on but I must say that this was my favourite project so far and am excited to progress my skills in the future for other projects. Personally I feel my skills have improved with camera work. From being introduced to camera techniques from previous modules I can see my skills enhancing with each project. From my recreation edit, I was happy with the development from shooting to the editing. Having the film example really helped match each shot, frame by frame. Comparing to the advertisement module, this was more exciting from the concept point & was familiar with the process of editing.

From re-creating the scenes, I was to build my knowledge of shot sizes & particular camera angles our group was trying to achieve from our film. Creating a shot list was great as it allowed us to explore what angels they used & how we'd achieve this like for like.

With this project we had everything done apart one shot we needed which was a shame but we eventually had shot it on a different day and got it done.In the future i think we should of logged  so we knew which shots we were going to use in  the footage, but it still went to plan and everything was in synch to the exact scene itself. a lot of the starting shots were over the shoulder from Hanna's shoulder, to over Lorenzo's shoulder, these were sort of snapshots because in the film the shot quickly changes over Daniels shoulder to Detective Rhodes, synchronising the films photography. For most of our light we had used a large panel light which in "Now you see me " the integration room is completely illuminated.  I think one scene we shot that was sort of a tricky situation was pouring the coke on the table wear the handcuff keys are hidden inside the can, one because  it was the last shot and didn't have much time left of the day, and two once the coke had been poured on the table and wasn't shot right, then we had the long process of re-filming it and clearing up the mess from and not having enough coke left if we continued to re-shoot the scene. I think what could of been better is if someone in our group was more of a leader and took charge, this way things could run a lot smoother with camera work, directing and guiding people to concentrate on their own independent job, instead of off working on the same thing together which would save us more time.

here are some sneak peaks behind the scenes:

these are some images from the footage we had from bts the image below shows us working on the preduction
