Development
As a group we tasked to create our own advertisement, one thirty second advert and then a ten second short. At first, we had a original idea of filming at a garden sanctuary, but due to some complications of the time we had, and people traveling we had changed our idea to a café in Broad mead called the Art gallery. We had all decided that art gallery was great for filming because of the activities they ran there .
pre production
Before we started shooting we started planning as group on creating ideas for the advertisement, discussing the purpose, and objective of what we were trying to produce. we went down to check out the place and we talked to the manager that worked there about what we could shoot and what we couldn't. when we got there he talked about how it wasn't just a café, he said that they have a pizzeria, a barbers, and in the basement they did live events with DJ's. we had a detailed schedule, which we planned shooting for three days Monday to Thursday shooting from 10;00 AM- 1;30, most of the shots were filmed in the same place but were taken in different parts of the café like the barbers or thrift shop area. We captured our shot list detailing each shot with camera angles specific actions we required for the shoot, we also covered safety precautions permission slips to customers who came in on the day which they were more than happy to be in .
production
When we arrived at the art club about twenty minutes early to set up equipment and prepare the shooting locations. we started setting up for our first shot which was a P.O.V of someone walking into the shop, this shot was taken with a gimbal that was used to hold the camera in place, so that it moved forwards as a person would. We followed up with a transition of the clothes we shot by the window which had dark saturation with most of the lighting coming from the outside creating shadows on the jeans. the scene with barbers was created with a ring light then a quick fade in of the barber cutting the customers hair. with this advertisement most of our shots were taken with the gamble for extra support.

advert evaluation
Before we did our actual advertisement we did a mock advert, with a bottle of flavoured water Called fever-tree. the equipment we used were two aperture lights, a tripod light and a black drape for creating shadows against the bottles and blacking out the shot. The first shot we did was handheld sort of doing a shot that descended showing the bottle brand and its flavour, we did a transition, the idea of the bottle rolling on one side gave a sort of unique look to make it stand out. We attempted a fade in but it didn't work well due to camera blurring just before we shot it. what I went well was the shot of the second bottle where placed two aperture lights underneath the bottle then changed the colour on both to make it glow a sort of lime colour to had some reference to the bottles flavour.
post production
With the advertisement, done I then had upload my footage to the hard drive, so that it was stored there so I could start editing my clips. I noticed a lot of my clips were long so with premier tools I had trim them down a little making them shorter and smoother to transition into the next clip, from YouTube music I downloaded a non copy write song which I thought was suitable for the production I was going to export. The picture I wanted to go with in my advertisement, was a sort of retro vibe, so with a bit of colour grading I made the picture grainy, and also changed the saturation giving it more light in some scenes. After cropping it down adding colour grading and choosing a suitable audio, I thought it was a decent start to the year for my first topic that I thought was done pretty well.
Evaluation
With the advertisement, what I thought that went well was how well we all communicated, and I liked that we listened to each others ideas, and agreed with what would work. Our teamwork and camera techniques is the reason we achieved a nice piece of work for our first topic. The picture I wanted to go for was a sort of retro look making the film look grainy which felt looked good but I think it was a little too grainy, because at the time I didn't know how to change it, but instead increased the exposure which made it clearer to see. With this project I really enjoyed this topic and learning new skills with camera techniques and can't wait for my other topics this one I enjoyed because it was exciting getting involved in something that had taken place in my city and the area I grew up in and it was a great experience being on set.
