HARAKIRI: HARAKIRI IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE FILMS FOR CINEMATOGRAPHY, IT IS SET IN FEDUAL JAPAN DURING THE 19TH CENTURY. THESE SHOTS I HAVE ABOVE ARE KOBOYASHI'S BEST SCENES BECAUSE THEY ARE LONG SHOTS CREATING A DRAMATIC SCENE , ALSO I LOVE THE STYLE OF HOW THE FILM IS MADE . THE TITLE HARAKIRI IS A MEANING FOR A RITUAL SUCIDE IN THE SAMURAI BUSHIDO CODE OF HONOUR. THE FIRST SCENE BEING THE MOST FAMOUS THE DUEL WHERE BOTH SAMURAI'S FIGHT HAS A BRILLIANT WIDE SHOT OF THE POMPAS FLOWERS AND SAMURAI'S OPPOSITE EACH OTHER . AND THE SECOND IS WHEN THE PROTAGONIST HANSHIRO ENTERS THE GRAVEYARD
LAST NIGHT IN SOHO: IS CREATED BY OUTSTANDING DIRECTOR EDGAR WRIGHT, WHO HAS GIVEN US FILMS LIKE BABY DRIVER, SHAUN OF THE DEAD, HOT FUZZ, AND THIS MASTERPIECE ... LAST NIGHT IN SOHO. LAST NIGHT IN SOHO IS SET AROUND IN LONDON IN PRSENT DAY WHERE A YOUNG GIRL NAMED ELOISE DREAMS TO BE A FASHION DESIGNER BUT HER NEW DESIGN SHE HAS HAS A PECULIAR PAST. IVE SEEN A LOT OF EDGAR WRIGHT FILMS AND THIS ONE WAS A DIFFRENT TURN IN HIS LINE OF WORK. IN THIS SCENE HER DESIGN/CHARACTER SANDY PLAYED BY ANYA TAYLOR JOY WITH JACK THE CLUB OWNER PLAYED BY MATT SMITH DANCE IN FRONT OF PEOPLE AND ELOISE SEE'S HERSELF IN SANDY'S DANCE, THIS IS WHERE ELOISE HAS AN IDEA FOR HER NEW DESIGN AND SHE NOW HAS A FEELING OF INSPIRATION.
In inglorious Basterds a masterpiece by Quentin Tarantino, there Is a unique shot that I love which where Christoph- waltz who plays Hans landa is about to shoot the girl who runs out of the barn, because the shot captures a shallow depth of field focusing on Landa's menacing grin as he aims his Luger at the French girl running away with tears of sadness after witnessing her whole family being killed. Christoph Waltz creates a cunning criminal that the audience gets to experience how ruthless he can become and performs this role with great perfection and does this role incredibly.
city of god is another iconic classic which is based on a true event that happened in Brazil during the late 60s and 70s which snowballed into the 1980s. through out this movie it has a lot of shots with great composition and framing, this film is has tale of two boys who go down completely different paths, one of good who becomes a photographer for the news and the bad who becomes a cold and collective gangster on the streets of Cicade de deus ( city of god),.
pulp fiction is a classic scene for choreography where Vincent Vega played by John Travolta dances with wife of Marcellus Wallace... Mia Wallace played Uma Thurman. they compete in a 60s dance off, where Vince and Mia dance in inspired sort of aristocrat Disney style. I like this scene because it sums up Quentin's whole unique style of filming with choreography and his interests in 60s and 70s musics through most of his movies .
Marc David- fight choregraher
gangs of London is not well known series but is a very action packed one. Actors like joe Cole who has starred in Peaky blinders as John Shelby and Michelle fairly who played Caitlyn Stark in the game of thrones series. In this series there a lot of fight scenes that are choreographed by Marc David, who makes the fights look more ("verite' french meaning for realism) and realistic, and it means the antagonists actually have a chance against the hero, showing the challenges they face through their journey
For the Dune Movies, I really like the cinematographer Greig Fraser, who did the cinematography, for Dune, the batman, the creator and many more award winning films. But his work on Dune is what I'm most fascinated with, Greig had shot the scenes with a ALEXA camera, he used a 65mm with an (LF large format) which he thought would create a good combo.
scenes I like with good music
I like this scene because it contrasts between a upbeat hip hop song, to a group reporters filming a shootout with the government the montage has a lot of cool and artistic shots that go really well with the music playing in the background.
Another classic way of how Hip hop music can be used is in "Do the right thing'. In this scene, Characters 'Buggin out' and 'Radio Raheem" enter Sal's restaurant to boycott Sal's over the wall of fame, wanting Italian culture only, but Buggin out and Raheem's message doesn't go down well.
