Pitching
For my third year 12 documentary pitching unit, I created a presentation detailing my plans for a portrait documentary, who I wanted to interview, what themes I wanted to incorporate etc. This was then pitched to my college tutors, which will lead me into my portrait documentary production unit.
SHORT DOCUMENTARY ANALYSIS
My first task was to find, watch and analyse three to four short documentaries. I decided to choose these videos based on ideas I wanted to go forward with in my own documentary. Some of these themes were family, culture, and life experiences. The following videos match these themes.

ELEVATOR PITCH
My next task was to present short elevator pitches about two ideas I had for the subject of my portrait documentary. These two people were my dad and my grandad. These elevator pitches had to last a minute and a half each, totalling three minutes. I presented my short pitches to one of my course tutors, and they then gave me feedback on which idea they felt I should go forward with. In the end, I decided to create the documentary about my dad.
PITCH PREPARATION
Then I had my main pitch. To prepare for the full presentation, we were given a document to fill out with all the information that might be needed in the pitch presentation. This was where I fully researched my chosen interviewee, from moodboards to show the desired colour scheme and shots wanted, to the production schedule, and even a hypothetical budget, so that we could truly simulate the experience of asking for funding from investors.

FINAL PITCH
After preparing for it, I was finally able to create the actual presentation. I took a lot of the information from the preparation document, and put them into slides. The colour scheme of the presentation was also based on the colour palette included in the moodboard. I also integrated a drawing of my dad's into the background of the presentation.
I presented this presentation to a course tutor, which was video recorded. I was then given feedback on how it went, which I was able to use as a guide for my evaluation.
