Unit 7
makeup

facial hair

I started the project with my group and started working on my own face trying to give it facial hair. i was used in the demo so i already had a golden blond goatee and i tried to add dark brown hair on top of it but i found it really difficult. i kept trying to get it to work but the hair just kept not sticking. this made me figure out that the spirit gum does not stick on top of of the hair and can only be applied on top of skin. i decided to just get ride of all of it and start again. this time. i started making a small stubbly moustache. this time i did it on skin and it stuck better. whilst the hair was sticking i would start placing glue on other parts of my upper lip this minimised the time of waiting. i then cut the hair that i stuck on to be smaller and once id made a bass layer i started sticking loads of random little bits on and then trimming it with the scissors. i then added a tiny goatee to the under side of my lip. i didn't have time to make it look more realistic so it was a quit small moustache but it was good to be able to trial and era putting facial hair on to my face.

natural makeup

I started the project with my group and Ati started applying makeup to my face. i started by removing all oil from my face with a blotting paper and then putting primer and moisturiser onto my face.  Ati started by finding my shade and placing concealer underneath my eyes and onto a spots or redness i had on my face. then she blended that out to make sure it looked natural. she then put contour onto my face and blended out so it looked natural.

beauty makeup

I started the project with my group and i decided that i wanted to be Dr frankenfurter from the rocky horror picture show. i started by cleaning my face and applying moisturiser and primer. i then continued by putting white face paint all over my face i dabbed and used my clean hands to get the white even before moving onto my eyes. i started by putting blue eyeshadow all over my eyelid, then i put black onto the lid of my eyes. i brought the black out a bit and then started defining my eyebrows with black eyeshadow. once that was done i started contouring my nose. i brought the black down and then put a warmer brown onto my nose so it looked more like the photo. i then used a big brush and contoured my cheeks

aging makeup

I started the project with my group and we decided to age me. i started by cleaning my face with de oiling pads and then applied moisturiser and primer onto my face. i clipped my hair out of my face and then Ati started with putting powder contour onto my eye areas and my cheekbones to make it look more sunken, she also put it round my forehead and my jaw. once that was done i scrunched up my face and Abby started putting cream contour onto the my natural creases. once she put all the lines there ati started placing cream concealer right next to all the contour to give it more depth. once that was done she blended it out with a beauty blender. i then went in with my finger and blended everything else out a little bit more. i then added a bit more contour and highlight before blending it all out again with my finger.

prosthetic fingers

me and my group decided that Abby and Cara would make the fake fingers based of there fingers. we started by getting alginate and gelatine to create the fingers and washing there hands. then Abby and Cara started mixing there mixture together remembering to put the powder onto the water. once they mold had dried they took there fingers out and went to melt the gelatine. Abby's gelatine was a good amount and she filled as much as she needed however Cara accidentally filled it up to much. then we left the fingers to set for about 15 to 20 miniets. Abby's turned out well set however Cara's hadn't set enough by the. time she took it out of the mold so me and Ati rolled it in powder to make it less gooey and sticky, it worked quit well.  then Abby, Cara and Ati painted them.

gelatine wounds

me and my group got a gelatine wound that looked like a massive cut and thought it would be cool to make it look like a sliced up cheek. i was decided to be the model and abby applied the glue to the wound and stuck it to my face. she then used the gelatine solvent to try and blend it to my face so it looked more realistic. then she started to try and get it to match my face colour but struggled a bit with it and then thought it looked similar to the wound that the joker has. then we painted my face and the wound completely white and abby started adding eyeshadow and powder to give it some depth and give me some other bruises. then she added the fake blood to the wound and we got given a fake blood pill to put in my mouth and dissolve, so we went to the bathroom and used it and got some photos.

homemade wounds

i got a little bit of Vaseline and put it in cornflour and mixed it together to create a play dough like paste. once i made the paste i placed on top of leo's hand and try to shape it into a small cut but i found it difficult to get it to stick to the hand. i asked chloe how to get it to stick to the hand and she explained how i should get Vaseline to blend it into the hand with a spatula and that worked really well. once i got the wound to look good i added powder to make it look skin like and blend in to leo's skin. once that was all done i gave it some bruising and added fake blood.

make up on the shoot day

for the shoot abby was in control of makeup due to her wanting to pursue it later in life. we didn't do any makeup on our actor but she put her own mascara on because she felt more comfortable doing it herself. when it came to the fake wound at the end of the movie she did it on our original actor and followed the steps that we got taught in college. these steps where to clean the area, test where we wanted it to be/see how it fit, use the prosaid adhicine to attach it to the skin, glue down the edges, use the gelatine blender to  blend it into the skin better and then apply the makeup. however we ran out of time to film so she had to take it of  and placed it in a secure place to be able to use it again. when we filmed with the sister again she put the wound back on her and made it look good again. once we were finished with using it she removed it from her face and cleaned everything up.
