Lighting
(CDM 347)
We then moved onto focusing on lighting; Involving how this lighting can affect the overall mood of each shot and what the audience assume from different colours and the brightness. For the first task, in our groups we were asked to recreate still shots from various different movies, and aim to try get the lighting as precise as possible.
After this, we moved onto a slightly more flexible task, where told to try create four specific scenarios using lighting, and film a short scene for each; These scenarios were a police chase, thunderstorm, a campfire and a moonlit lake.
Finally, I were given the individual project of choosing one or two horror programmes, to write up on how the lighting within two specific scenes (of my choice) help create and amplify the mood within them. For this, I decided to go with a scene from one of my favourite horrors ('The blair witch project') which plays with superficial lighting, compared to another scene from a horror called 'The black phone' that uses much more natural lighting.
In my group, we also created a floor plan (drawn by Madison Eden-Barrett) to get to know the layout of the Air BnB properly before filming there. With this, it meant that we could also then focus on figuring out how our lighting will play out- Due to windows and natural lighting, as well as the placements of our own lighting equipment. We then moved on and made proper lighting diagrams for all of our master shots, which we counted up to be eleven.
