Lighting
In this section we are studying the different lighting techniques in different films.
In the first part of this workshop we chose 4 different scene stills too recreate the lighting. Below are the different photos that we chose.

Photo One
With the first picture we chose Zac to be the model. The first thing we did was set up the background. We used a black fabric screen and ruffled it to make a textured background. We then set up a panel light and put a green gel in front of the light. This created the green tint behind Zac. We then got another panel light and set it on a warm tone and shine it onto Zacs face to create the warm lighting on the mans face. Both of these lights were next to each other and there were no lights on the other side as there is shadowing on the other side.

Photo Two
In this photo we chose Yoyo to be our model. The first thing we did was set up the black backdrop. Yoyo then got in her place and angled her face the way it is shown in the photo. We then set up the two panel lights and put pink gel on one and blue on the other. We then placed them either side of Yoyo and made the blue one stronger than the pink. After taking the photo and looking back on t we realised we made them to pigmented and bright and realised we should have either moved the lights further away or turned the brightness down.

Photo Three
In this photo we chose Tilly to be our model. The first thing we did was get a piece of black fabric to put in the corner in front of the door. We then got a panel light and put a red gel over it. We placed it behind the fabric so it would create a silhouette of Tilly. We had a knife that was made out of cardboard that Tilly held and she stood in the foreground of the photo.

Photo Four
In this photo I was the model. The first thing we had to do was look for images most similar to the background in the original. We put the image up on the main screen TV and set a table in front for me to kneel on to get the right hight. We then set up a warm toned panel light to create the warm atmosphere from the original. We also used a reflection circle to reflect the light on the other side. We released n the final photo that we should have used a warmer background rather than cooler tones.

Videos
Caught By the Cops
The Chase
Warming Fire
Cuddles By The Lake
In this video we are looking out the window as the police are coming. To set this up we got a piece of cardboard and cut lines into it to make it look like some blinds. We then got a light to shine through it to reflect the curtain like shapes on our faces. We then got two apature lights and there was a cop setting so we put the lights on that setting so it gave the effect of cops showing up at our door.

For this video we got water and leaves chucked on us and then someone got a big peace of cardboard and started waving it up and down to create the wind effect. For the lighting we wanted to keep the theme of getting chased by cops so behind us we put red and blue flashing lights, in front of us we put a white flashing lighting to give the effect of lightning. If I were to redo this scene i would put a panal light with a slight yellow tint to it to look like the sunlight of the moon.

For this we wanted to recreate the light from campfire so we got a lighter as a reference and put on the fire setting on the apature light. We wanted it to look like i started the fire with the lighter so Yoyo was ready in position to turn on the light to give the effect i started it.

In this video we wanted to get the moonlight shining off the lake onto our faces so we got an apurture light and put it on a blue setting and then got a plastic bottle with water in and put the light underneath it to get the light to reflect like a lake on us.
