Pitching
In this section we were tasked to come out with two different pitching ideas to pitch to potential investors. Below is my documentary research and pitching presentation.
Pitch Prep
Below is my elevator pitch and my explanation of it. There is also my pitch feedback and evidence of me presenting my pitch.
Elevator Pitch
My first elevator pitch was about my friend and her mum who came over to England from Ukraine. I talked about how I was going to ask them both questions about how there life was before moving, the journey here and what there life is like now. I also said about how I would ask them what they miss in Ukraine and what here journey was like coming over to England. My other idea that I pitched was about my mum. I mentioned how it would be about wha t was like to grow up in an abusive household. I want to dig deeper Ito the mental toll t took on her health then and also how it still affects her now. I also said about how I want to interview her about how she got into her job and why. The style of documentary that I said I want to do is a mix of an interview, B-roll and archive footage.
Pitch feedback
Was all of the information relevant?
Yes, all the information was relevant and backed up your idea.

Was the presenter well prepared?
Yes, you were well prepared. The only thing missing from your slides was some socio-economic data on your audience and the legal and ethical issues, however, once questioned about this you answered it well.

Were the ideas well justified and considered?
Yes, you have considered how you will shoot the film and what you will ask your subject about. There is a clear story to the documentary.

Were questions answered well?
Yes, you answered all of the questions clearly.

How feasible is the project?
The project is very feasible as they are your mum & they work from home.

General feedback:
This was a lovely presentation, it was well thought through and concise. There was a lot of text on your slides, in the future it would be better to make sure that the text on your presentation is minimal so that the audience can listen to your presentation rather than reading off the slides. I would also ensure that you put your legal and ethical issues into the slides. I think that this is a very important piece of film to make and I think it will be very impactful.
Evaluation
Pre-Production
In my preparations for the documentary pitching in brainstormed a few ideas of what I could base my documentary on. This helped so then I had an idea of what I wanted to do when it came to planning. I narrowed y ideas down to two. I did an elevator pitch to one of my teachers and we both agreed upon doing it about my mum who lived in an abusive household when she was growing up. This was good as I didn't have to go back and forth trying to get into contact with people and we could sort a day that is okay for both me and her. I then made a powerpoint that broke down what my documentary was about and all the information needed. I then pitched my documentary to Amber who gave me feedback on it. If I were to do this again I would add more detail about what the documentary will include. Next tie I will also make sure I am prepared for things to go wrong during the planning process. When delivering my pitch I could have been more confident in the way I spoke and next time I will prepare myself more for the pitch. Although I struggled with presenting my pitch when I did the elevator pitch I prepared me more. When coming up with ideas I struggled a bit so next time I will brainstorm more and look up different ways to come up with better ideas.
